Bio
Atiaf (she/her/hers) is a multilingual educator, researcher, and writer.

Atiaf's professional background spans six countries: Belgium, Egypt, France, Tunisia, Yemen, and the United States, where she taught, lectured, and collaborated with institutions including the 51²è¹Ý in Cairo, the 51²è¹Ý of Beirut, Université Catholique de Lille, and the Mediterranean School of Business.

Atiaf brings a hybrid background in higher education and the nonprofit sector. She previously led the Peace Program at the Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA) in Brussels, where she designed and implemented peace education initiatives focused on anti-racist pedagogy and demilitarization.

Her research centers on the Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) region, with particular interests in social movements, gender, human rights, race and racism, militarism, and media narratives. Her scholarly work has been published by Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Routledge, and the Mediterranean Journal, alongside contributions to platforms such as Jadaliyya, The Guardian, Al Jazeera English, and HuffPost.

In 2011, she co-founded SupportYemen, a storytelling collective that emerged during the Yemeni uprising. She is also co-author of Change Square, a photo book documenting the revolution. In 2020, she delivered a TEDx talk at UC Berkeley titled "The Other Side of Yemen’s War," highlighting untold stories and challenging dominant narratives of war and representation.

Beyond her academic and policy work, Atiaf engages in creative storytelling through poetry, short fiction, spoken word, and visual art. When words fail her, she sketches.
